1) What sparked your interest and love for design?
As a young child I watched my mother and father's great eye for detail and beauty for the interior and exterior of our home. My parents owned a commercial construction company, so I was surrounded by the design process my entire life. I loved watching projects come to life throughout the planning, design and build phases. So, going to school for interior design was a natural move for me.
2) What is your favorite challenge brought by the interior design process?
Creating a home that is unique and special for each client. The first few meetings we have with clients are vital. This is where we sit and talk about their vision, how they live day to day, entertain and what they do for fun. The more I know, the better I can help make their house a perfect reflection of them. I love the trust clients give us with their homes. It is an intimate process, and there is no space more intimate than your home.
3) What is your favorite part of the design process?
I love it all. Every stage in designing a home is very different and exciting. As I move forward with the process I begin to see the home come together in a cohesive way. It is a pretty amazing feeling when you look back on concept drawings of a room, tile drawings, even cabinet drawings and see it come to life. If I had to choose just one favorite part, it is the Reveal Day. We greet our clients at the front door with a glass of champagne, toast to their beautiful new home and then we walk our clients through their 100% complete home for the very first time!
4) What makes Black Sheep Interiors special to you?
Black Sheep Interiors is special to me for several reasons. I had a fantastic mentor that taught me a lot about design and relationships that I would have never otherwise learned. I work with an amazing group of people who make it an absolute joy to come to work everyday.
5) What is your favorite thing to do when you aren't working?
I like to travel, garden and hang out with my family!
